I have always,
Always played,
Not to lose,
Rather than,
To win...

     I clench my eyes,
     To avoid the sight,
     Of my self-inflicted,
     Public humiliation.

I have always,
Always prayed,
Not to lose,
Rather than,
To win...

This I did hear my Lord God say:

"All who thirst, come to the Water;
All who are poor, come to the Feast -
Priceless wine and glorious milk,
My gifts of Grace for my children.

Why do you spend all of your money,
On pop, chips, cigarettes, and heroin?
Why do you labor to make others rich?
Listen close to your loving Mother:
'Eat your vegetables! Eat up, I made plenty!'

Listen to me. Come to me. Enjoy!
Listen to me. It is time to start living.
Come to me. I will love you like David.
You too will be my voice and my face.

You shall call out to the world in your wealth,
And the people will come for water and food.
For I your Father have made you a beacon.

Call on me before it is too late - I AM here!
Let the wicked follow their own hormones.
Let all the fools follow their own wisdom.
Let them come to me on their own terms.
Let them come to me for water and food.
Let them come to me for grace and mercy.

For your judgments are not my judgments.
My understanding is not your understanding.
As the cosmos lies beyond your atmosphere,
So my ways lie beyond your comprehension."

This did I hear my Lord God say.

Our parents believed,
In the rite of the paddle,
So, we came to believe,
In the God-of-the-Rod.

A hard rigid God,
Easily becomes,
An abusive God,
Who engenders,
Abusive children.

The Lord is my nightlight.
The Lord is my sanctuary!
So what do I have to fear?

The Lord is my inner Keep -
So why then am I still afraid?

When Zombie mobs surround me,
Corporate Vampires, and Politicians,
They will fall over the Stumbling-Block!

Though a hoard of Orcs camp before me -
I shall stand tall and resolute before them!
Though the Dark One brings war upon me -
I stand with the Lord's hand on my shoulder!

I do not pray for triumph or survival -
I ask for a simple bed in His shelter:
To gaze upon His face each morning;
To ask Him all my endless questions.

He would let me hide when I feel weak,
As I pull the blankets up over my head.

But then He will raise me to a high place,
Where I can see the enemy down below;
Where I'll enter His tent and sing to Him.

Have mercy my Lord on my weaknesses;
My soul needs now the grace of Your face.
Let me always stay here, safe beside You.
Forgive me when I make You mad or sad.

Do not forsake me O my Heart's Blood;
Though my friends and family may have.
Lift me up, and show me the right Way.

Remove the obstacles that confuse me.
Do not let the forces of evil overcome me.
Rulers are arising by telling the people lies;
I smell death and decay on their breaths.

I believe that I will see the Good Kingdom,
Here in the hearts of good women and men!

In His good time...
Wait for His time;
Remain strong;
Take courage.

Wait for His time.

Bigots behind fair smiles,
Clouding our perception:
Spewing pathetic revelations;
Whispering gnostic theories;
Evangelizing a gospel of hate.

Villains vilifying the vile -
Tongues of mass destruction:
Shrilly emphatic exclamations;
Spreading corrosive conspiracies;
Destroying discerning debate.

Forty hot days in wild wilderness;
Forty cold nights in an arid desert -
It would have truly seemed to me,
To be a long forty confusing years.

Driven away like the very first Adam;
Losing himself so as to find himself -
Surrounded by jackals and vultures;
Ignored by food-bearing ravens of old.

A jackal stepped forward, Diabolos,
To harass the prone wasting man -
Skin burned red by unrelenting sun;
Lips cracked by the hot blowing sand.

"Since you're the son of God the Creator,
Make bread to eat from this dead rock!"
"It says within the scroll of Deuteronomy:
'Thou livest not upon mere bread alone!'"

"Since you are the son of God Almighty,
I'll give you the World if you bow to me!"
"It says within the scroll of Deuteronomy:
'Worship the Lord, and the Lord alone!'"

"Since you are the son of God of Hosts,
Jump from on high that they'll bear you!"
"It says within the scroll of Deuteronomy:
'Thou shalt cease putting us to the test!'"

The jackal then slunk back into the rocks;
Abiding until a more vulnerable moment.

Old Moses came down from a high mountain top;
Like a sun, the Glory-of-God shone from his face.
A hidden Darkness in the people feared the Light!
So, Moses wore a veil when he was out in public -
But when face to face with God, there was no veil.

And so then, our minds became hard and closed;
We hid from Jehovah behind our thin veil of Laws.
When Jesus died for us, the veil was ripped aside,
So that all could gaze on each other's naked faces -
To discover there, the reflected Grace-of-the-Lord.

We saw each other, transfigured there before us,
And we felt the deep old need for the old old veil -
Driven by our fearful demons, we built an edifice.
We soon found we couldn't cast out the demons,
Because we had hidden the Light behind a veil.
