I, Whilst...

Whilst being devoured
By mosquitos and by ticks;
Wast myself devouring
That which wast before me.

In a Certain Light

in a certain special light
a soft and tender thought
is seen as burnished metal
bright and shining iridium

in a light rare and right
from a plainly speckled and
 worthless bivalved oyster
comes the glory of a pearl

in a fresh and sacred Light
a dream arises from the dark
while fair earth blesses all
with such unexpected glory

Trillium recurvatum

Common name is Prairie Trillium, but it is a woodland wildflower. I can not always differentiate it from Toadshade (Trillium sessile) - I have seen patches where some of the plants have leaves with distinct petioles, some with indistinct petioles, and some with none; some have erect sepals, some have spreading sepals, and some have drooping sepals; some have pointed leaves, some have rounded leaves, and some rounded points. Does anyone know if they hybridize with each other naturally?

Dreams Are...

dreams are forward thoughts
flowing free down a river
incorporating many tributaries
spreading into a delta of infinitude
some across sharp-rock rapids
others across well-worn pebbles
some meandering peacefully
others trapped in oxbows
